Lavender Bedtime | Wednesday Wishlist

If there’s one thing I struggle with lately, it’s drifting off to sleep. A mixture of noise, working shift patterns and general anxiety and stress related thoughts keep me wide awake at night. Since getting my Fitbit Flex I’ve been tracking my sleeping pattern and it genuinely shocks me how bad it is some nights. Over the last month I’ve been so annoyed with getting just 4-5 hours sleep that I’ve been taking sleeping tablets. Not ideal to be taken on a regular basis and not great when I have to wake myself up before 5am for work, so I’ve been looking at alternative methods to help me drift off…

First, some Lavender fuelled scents – Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Lavender Chamomile Pillow Mist and This Works Deep Sleep Body Therapy. I really love Lavender scents, I find them so relaxing and as a child I remember having a lavender scented pillow at my grandmas house. Perfect.
I’ve recently turned into a big tea drinker, experimenting more with unusual flavours. This Yogi Bedtime Tea sounds lovely so I will be hunting this down soon.
Disney Princess Jasmine Pyjama Set because who doesn’t want Disney pjs? and Lavender Eye Mask, I’m sure I’m not the only shift worker who absolutely hates being rudely woken by the sun shining through their curtains when they’re trying to sleep?
Finally, I had to add this because, well Neom. Who doesn’t want a Neom candle? All the reviews on this Neom Organics Tranquillity Scented Candle make it sound like the perfect bedtime candle.

Do you have any secrets for what helps you get a good nights sleep?

I use the This Works pillow spray and sometimes I swear it helps me sleep better, and sometimes I think it’s all in my head! Undecided! I’m a shift worker that struggles to sleep too, will deffo have to try some of these out!

I find the sound of the rain on the window is my favourite natural way to get to sleep 😛 We just need some on demand night rain! (not always possible).
I’ve heard not using tech late at night or not watching tv from the bed all help fall asleep easier in bed (but I’m a sucker for a cheeky in-bed GOT episode on my phone in the mornings)
Perhaps meditation works? I’ve heard a few people suggest that 🙂

    • Totally posted this reply to the wrong person to start with 😭 You can get an app that will play rain for an amount of time you set, I can’t remember the name right now but I’m sure you can find it in the App Store. I find it so helpful for getting me to sleep! Xx

I am obsessed with lavender right now! I have bought so many products in lavender scents… I will be doing a post about it soon 😉

As for sleeping, sometimes I take melatonin…

Some lovely things there, I love using lavender scented oils to help me sleep, so relaxing.

Some great things there, I found taking an antihistamine at night works wonders for sleep as it makes you so drowsy

No clutter in the room and I make sure the room is not too warm

I use lavender pillow spray, but I’ve not tried this one, think I might have to get a few of these things and try them

  • Not going to lie, my prescription from my doctor helps me get through the night (not sleeping pills tho). I can take a tablet more when I’m stressed, one less when I’m chilled… Maybe it’s not ideal but if you’re really struggling there’s no shame in getting that help 🙂 xx
