|Another beautiful cover from The Hummingbird Bakery|
I am a self confessed Hummingbird Bakery obsessed baker so once again I am left speechless as The Hummingbird Bakery releases it’s third Cookbook, ‘Home Sweet Home’.
‘Home Sweet Home’ is beautifully clear and well presented book cramming 100 mouthwatering new recipes from founder Tarek Malouf and his team at The Hummingbird Bakery. This book includes some familiar ‘Daily Specials’ from their London based bakeries along with a tonne of new recipes which I must admit, I never expected when I preordered this two weeks ago!
I cannot fault it. There are delicious images and step-by-step photos on every page along with an introduction to each recipe and as always the simple method guide.

The recipes are divided into seven chapters within the book: Cupcakes; Cakes, Cheesecakes & Roulades; Cookies & Biscuits; Pies & Cobblers; Traybakes; Sweet Treats & Classic Pubs; Savouries. I can’t begin to decide which chapter is my favourite right now.
It even includes a Baking Essentials chapter giving useful tips and techniques for fellow bakers. Everything from which ingredients are best to how to frost a cupcake is included in this section. Perfect for beginners!
Tarek Malouf was inspired by American Baking after working for American’s ABC News Network noticing the delicious treats loved by Americans. This was almost non-existent within the UK so he took some baking classes in New York and opened the first Hummingbird Bakery on London’s Portobello Road in 2004. Since then has opened five more four in London and one in Dubai! The company keeps going, giving customers indulgent treats and inspiration.
How am I meant to choose which recipe I will try out first?
As one of my 25 things before twenty-five is to bake more I have decided to select one recipe from each chapter and these will be my next seven bakes.
Rhubarb and Custard Cupcakes
Pineapple Upside-down Cake
Syrup Crunchie Cookies
I’m excited to get started with this book, are there any recipes you will be baking soon?
