I’ve been trying to improve my more abstract nail art, starting with the ever popular galaxy and nebula nail art! Since first seeing this style of nail art being posted through Tumblr, Instagram and often Wah Nails I have been well and truly obsessed with trying to perfect it. Some of these nail girls I look up to make it look so damned easy, but I have attempted them on numerous occasions and they honestly just end up looking like I’ve just smothered my nails in 4 or 5 different colours – an embarrassing, child-like mess with no real depth or precision to it. Until now! and I hope those of you who read and follow my nail updates will agree that this is by far my best attempt at galaxy nail art. I’m not saying these are the best I’ve ever seen, they’re just my best attempt. I will keep trying, if anyone has any tips please feel free to comment below. I am always happy to hear constructive criticism.
How did I tackle this nail art?
I started with a base coat of Black Magic from Models Own, though any black or navy blue polish will do.
I then used a cosmetic/foundation sponge dipped in Miss Sporty Clubbing Colour in Paparazzi and lightly dapped curvy shapes and circles onto the nails.
After leaving that to dry I then sponged on Miss Sporty Clubbing Colour in Green Lemon, a slightly metallic jade green. This time I made the dabs slightly smaller and within the pink areas to give a deeper effect.
I finally finished with a single coat of Miss Sporty Sparkle Touch Top Coat in clear, giving a light dusting of glitter and added a few little white dots using Models Own X Wah Nail Art Pen.
I always finish with a clear top coat of Models Own Pro Diamond Top Coat to seal the layers of colour together.
What do you think? Is there any way I can improve on this? Any tips?
