If you can’t quite afford a full week away, why not save some money and head off for a short break like a weekend away. There are lots of great places you can get to from and in the UK, so you can keep travelling all year round.
Short Break to Paris
Paris is a great option for a short break when travelling from the UK. Flights are plentiful and cheap, and there is a lot to do once you get there. Search sites like Easyjet.com to get the best deals, but make sure you pack light as you will get charged extra for additional luggage.
Once you arrive, you will probably want to see the sights. The Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral are all spectacular. But remember if you are doing Paris on foot, it’s a pretty long walk between these attractions. So don’t forget to take a quick break in one of the many flower lined parks along the way.
There is plenty of culture to appreciate too. A trip to the Louvre is always worthwhile with its mix of ornate and starkly modern architecture. Make sure you get a photo of the fountain opposite the pyramid! It’s best to plan what items you would like to see in the Louvre as it is massive and you can easily spend the whole day in there. If you are too overcome to continue head to the cafe for some refreshments before you, continue your journey.
In the evening how about heading to the Moulin Rouge for a Parisian cabaret show, dress to impress and treat yourself to a glass or two of champagne.
A Long Weekend in Azores
The Azores in Portugal is also a perfect place for a short break. It’s more of a relaxing long weekend option than Paris. Imagine having a mini holiday with all the sun, sand a blue sea for just a few days? It could really refresh you.
Even though you are only there for a short time, it’s worth interrupting your sunbathing to go whale watching in Azores. This is a really memorable experience and will make a fantastic story to tell your friends and family when you get home.
Be a Big Kid in Disneyland Paris
If you are not looking for a city or a beach break, why not go for a theme park instead? With two parks now, it would be easy to fill a weekend in Disneyland Paris. Meet your favourite characters for breakfast. Ride Star Tours and the Temple of Doom coaster. Then head on down to Buffalo Bill’s’ Wild West Dinner Show for some traditional cowboy entertainment and some hearty vittles. You can choose to stay in one of the official park themed hotels. Or go for a partner hotel which is a cheaper option. Some of the partner hotels are themed too now, and they offer a shuttle service to and from the park’s daily. Buy your tickets online before you go to make even more savings.
